Guo Lei specializes in the stability and disease prevention and control of cold region engineering. As the first author or corresponding author, he has published over nine SCI papers in journals such as the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Applied Thermal Engineering, and Cold Regions Science and Technology. Guo leads one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one Gansu Provincial Natural Science Foundation project, and projects under the Qinghai-Tibet Group Company's science and technology plan. His achievements have been applied to the disease control of the Qinghai-Tibet DC transmission line and the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, earning him a second-place provincial/ministerial-level scientific and technological progress award and a third-place technical invention award.
