On March 23-24, the Cryosphere Science Development Strategy Seminar and the 2023 Annual Council Meeting of the Chinese Society for Cryospheric Sciences were held in Lingshui, Hainan. During the meeting, the Shi Yafeng Cryosphere and Environment Foundation's Outstanding Scientist Award and Young Scientist Award for 2023 were presented. Academicians Qin Dahe, Yao Tandong, and Zhang Renhe awarded the prizes. Professor Cao Bo from the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University was honored as one of the five "Shi Yafeng Cryosphere and Environment Foundation Young Scientists," recognizing his innovative achievements in the field of glacier change and its impacts.
Mr. Shi Yafeng is an outstanding geographer and glaciologist in China, a pioneer and founder of modern Chinese glacial and permafrost science, as well as a precursor in modern geography in China.
